Pease see the below updates. We call upon your special attention to the first one (1) as it has some overarching implications on the entire business ecosystem and, by extension, the ease of doing business.
The Ministry of Natural resources and Energy has embarked on an exercise to review the Electricity Act (2007), The Energy Regulatory Authority Act and The Eswatini Electricity Company Act. The main objective for the review is to update the legislation due to the rapid change in technology and increasing number of players in the energy space. For ease of reference the legislation and suggested changes are attached.
Members are invited to submit their comments on the above-mentioned legislation on or before the 7th June 2024. Questions and comments can be sent to Musa Maseko at musam@business-eswatini.co.sz and Nozipho Msibi at noziphom@business-eswatini.co.sz
On another note, we would like to direct our singular appreciation to Happy Valley Hotel for partnering with Business Eswatini on the Lunch at the Market, 5th Edition which was held in Mahlanya. Happy Valley Hotel conducted a capacity-building initiative before the main day of the lunch at the market in order to expose the Mahlanya restaurant vendors to some of the modern practices used by the hotel industry so that the vendors are not left behind. The training varied from the latest hygiene, food preparation and presentation techniques. This partnership is also an expression of Business Eswatini’s ambition to reach out to the MSME and informal sectors in a bid to empower and integrate them into the mainstream economy. Kudos to Happy Valley Hotel for identifying their strengths and for making their contribution, which was the second time in succession.

You are also notified that we are in the process of revamping our communications and feedback mechanism in order to improve engagement and information sharing. This is also aimed at ensuring that your experience improves, thus making things easier on both ends. You will note that we have momentarily moved out of the Mailchimp platform which we used to disseminate communication and reverted to this outlook platform. We will be migrating to the Business Eswatini Portal to achieve this. If your organization has not been registered on the portal yet, please follow this link to do so: https://business-eswatini.co.sz/portal/wp-login.php?action=register
