Mbabane, Eswatini – [25 July 2024] – Business Eswatini (BE) convened a high-level meeting today that brought together senior industry leaders from key sectors, including banking, forestry, logistics, and the sugar industry. The meeting was organised by the Hon Minister of Information, Communication and Technology Senator Savannah Maziya and facilitated by BE.
The Minister stated that even though this is not directly under the Portfolio of the Ministry of ICT, His Majesty charged all Ministers to work towards attracting Foreign Direct Investment. The Minister stated that historically exports to middle East especially Dubai, UAE have been low, a situation which she hoped that a meeting of this nature would change. The Minister highlighted that sectors which stand to benefit from a strategic alliance with PD World are: foodstuff, especially sugar, logistics and the ICT sector. The Minister further stressed that ICT infrastructure can be an enabler especially for integrated logistics entities
The event featured an insightful presentation by Deon Lawrence Dmello of DP World, a leading global logistics company, focusing on strategies to boost Eswatini’s international trade capabilities and position the country as a premier logistical trade hub in Southern Africa.
During the session, DP World highlighted their extensive experience in global trade and logistics, showcasing best practices that Eswatini businesses can adopt to enhance their trade performance. The presentation covered innovative solutions and strategic approaches tailored to the unique needs of Eswatini’s industries.
